DTU Nationals

What a weekend!  I was so happy for dear friends who took some major risks and huge leaps of faith to start their own competition from the ground up.  So much thought and preparation are behind just the vision itself, and what they wanted Dance Team Union to be.  To see it all come to fruition in such a successful way was a joy to witness!  I was so very pleased and proud to be a part of it by serving on the judging panel with some pretty cool and amazing people!  And if that wasn’t enough to make me giddy, we got to judge some of the best dance teams in the country!  So many positives about this company, but at the very base of everything is a commitment to the teams and their coaches and doing what is best for them.  They equally reward artistry, technique and precision on their scoresheets.  They had these cool things like “final chance rounds” to provide another performance opportunity and a chance for a team to advance to finals.  The battle rounds were a positive and fun way to celebrate right before awards and was probably my favorite part of the weekend.  The top routines in each category “battled” to be picked as the best by the judges.  It gave the teams an opportunity to see the top routines and just sit and enjoy the other teams’ performances.  The free live stream and amazing prizes were the cherry on top of the delicious sundae.  You can check out all kinds of footage from the weekend here at the DTU Facebook page.  And here’s a link to their website.  They’ve got all kinds of cool instructional and competitive opportunities for teams.  Thanks DTU for letting me be a part of it and for being so supportive of The Kansas City Classic!

This was my view.

Some of the panel. Great seeing old friends and meeting new!

I snapped this photo of the Lake Mary Marionettes because it reminded me that I need to call April Marshall Wagner. 🙂

And this is my roommate Jen from Minnesota. It was so awesome meeting a kindred spirit! We had so much fun!
