Kayla Kernel has trained in numerous dance styles, including contemporary, jazz, tap, ballet and lyrical.  She has trained in the Midwest and in Los Angeles, where she earned a scholarship with L.A. Dance Force and the leader in commercial dance education:  Edge Performing Arts Center.  She graduated from Northwest Missouri State University and was a member of the Northwest Dance Company.  Kayla was also a member of the nationally ranked Bearcat Steppers for four years, and co-captain for one year.  She has participated and excelled in competitive dance as a performer, and has also choreographed dance team performances and competition material for the high school and collegiate level.  Kayla has choreographed several dances for the Miller Marley Competition Team, one of the top competitive dance teams in the country.  All of her competition material has won Gold and Platinum awards at numerous dance competitions across the country.

Kayla was a member of the Kansas City Chiefs Cheerleaders, performing in front of thousands at every home game at Arrowhead Stadium, representing the squad at promotional events, and appearing in their top selling calendar.  She was also a member of the AFL’s Kansas City Command Dancers.  As a Whiskey Girl, she danced with country music artist Toby Keith and assisted with choreography.  Kayla has also served as the Marketing Coordinator for a pro cheerleader consulting company that is an invaluable resource to members of professional cheerleading organizations, and those auditioning for these organizations.  She also performed at the Silpada National Convention with Larkspur.

Kayla  has choreographed award-winning routines with Larkspur Dance and Choreography, and has judged solos at the Kansas City Classic, Lee’s Summit North Invitational and Missouri State Dance Team Championship.  She has judged solos and teams at the Indiana Dance Team State Championship.  Kayla has perfected many routines for dance teams to get their routines ready for competition.  She is a fundamental part of Larkpsur’s Tryout Administration program, running tryouts for local dance teams.  Kayla also is a seasoned instructor for Larkspur’s clinic programs.

Kayla was a senior artist at the number one specialty beauty retailer in the world, and her artistry and passion for her work spills over into her role at Larkspur as well.  She’s our resident makeup artist, beauty expert, and skincare specialist, helping not only us, but dance teams, too,  perfect game day and competition looks.  She now works as an educator for a top NYC dermatologist's award winning and best selling skincare line.
